Overview

CVP is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) to join our team in providing support operations at the Atlanta VA Medical Center located at 1670 Clairmont Road Decatur, GA 30030.

 

You'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to support quality healthcare delivery for Veterans.

 

This is a part-time position. Working hours are any three days a week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general diagnostic radiography, fluoroscopy, portable radiography, portable fluoroscopy, and operating room imaging 
  • Prepare and administer contrast materials under radiologist direction (e.g., GI studies, venograms, cystograms, arthrography)
  • Accurately operate imaging equipment to obtain diagnostic‑quality images while minimizing radiation exposure 
  • Read and report on a diverse mix of general diagnostic modalities, including basic neuro-imaging examinations
  • Review imaging orders and next‑day cases as needed (minimum 2 hours daily)
  • Provide clinical consultation to referring providers regarding imaging results and care plans
  • Communicate test results to patients and providers per VHA Directive 1088
  • Record radiation dose data for fluoroscopy and portable fluoroscopy exams 
  • Review, validate, and process radiology orders
  • Register, complete, cancel, and edit imaging exams in VA systems 
  • Perform imaging studies according to urgency (STAT, urgent, routine, pre‑op) 
  • Ensure image quality, repeat/reject analysis, and compliance with departmental quality thresholds 
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure images are properly uploaded to PACS 
  • Follow infection control, sterile technique, radiation safety, and VA safety policies 
  • Assist radiologists/physicians during procedures and anticipate procedural needs 
  • Identify patients correctly and ensure proper image labeling and documentation 
  • Monitor equipment functionality and report malfunctions 
  • Adjust exam techniques based on patient condition and clinical need 

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance; US Citizenship is required
  • Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Board Certified in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Previous Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist experience 
  • Active DEA license
  • NPI report printout
  • Experience with diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology 
  • Proficient in the use of electronic medical records systems
  • Strong patient care and communication skills 
  • Physical ability to assist patients and operate equipment; capable of standing for long periods of extended time, lifting and/or transferring up to 50 lbs
