Overview

CVP is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist specializing in Computed Tomography (CT) to join our team in support of the VA New Jersey Health Care System, Toms River CBOC, located at 1051 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ. This is a full-time, on-site position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of CT examinations, including both contrasted and non-contrasted exams, and track reportable CT doses
  • Apply specific knowledge of cross-sectional human anatomy in spiral and/or multi-slice computed tomography, inclusive of 3-D reconstruction scans, drainages, biopsies, and peripheral vascular examinations
  • Perform Cardiac CT exams with retro and prospective gating, as well as Interventional/CT procedures with CT Fluoro, such as lung biopsies, RFAs, Cryo-Ablations, and Microwave Ablations
  • Operate 320-slice and 64-slice Light Speed Computed Tomography Scanners
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of Intravenous Contrast Agents used in Radiology and Hydration Procedures
  • Prepare patients for radiographic procedures by assessing patient needs, providing pre-test education, explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing reassurance throughout the procedure
  • Perform quality control measures to ensure optimal image quality; adjust equipment and position patients to eliminate test artifacts and protect patients from unnecessary radiation exposure
  • Monitor patients for potentially dangerous physical and emotional changes during examinations and immediately notify the physician of any abnormal changes
  • Prepare contrast agents and accurately record pharmaceutical doses
  • Evaluate test results for clarity and accuracy and take corrective action where appropriate
  • Log data into patient information systems and update file systems for tests performed
  • Prepare digital images for interpretation by the radiologist and transmit electronic images and reports via Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
  • Document any delayed cases in CPRS notes, including the reason for delay and a plan to complete the study
  • Review all pending cases on a daily basis
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and workspace per standard operating procedure
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions and readjust equipment or refer for repair
  • Follow all national and local guidelines, including those of the Veterans Administration National Health Physics Program
  • Adhere to all facility and service-level policies, procedures, infection control policies, and professional standards
  • Demonstrate a high level of mental and emotional tolerance when dealing with patients, families, and co-workers, using tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and professional attitudes

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance; US Citizenship is required
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice Radiologic Technology in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
  • Certification in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology (R) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Advanced ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in CT as an advanced modality
  • Experience with sterile supplies, local anesthetics, contrast materials, catheters, and related equipment
  • Experience with intraoperative portable and portable C-arm cases
  • Knowledge of computerized and digital radiography (CR/DR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
  • Proficiency with IVP, GI series, Modified Barium Swallow, barium and air contrasted barium enema exams preferred
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently

Shift

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

Pay Rate

  • Hourly Pay: $54.00/hr.
  • Health & Wellness (H&W): $5.09/hr (H&W will be prorated based on enrollment in the benefits offered, including automatic enrollment in employer-paid plans).
