Overview

We are seeking a seasoned pre-sales Solutions Engineer to partner with our sales and technical teams in bringing Fifer to federal agencies, public sector institutions and commercial enterprises. In this pre-sales role, you'll serve as a trusted technical advisor, demonstrating how Fifer enables agencies to harness generative AI safely, securely, and in compliance with federal requirements. You'll work directly with government technology leaders, security teams, and mission stakeholders to architect solutions that drive innovation while meeting stringent security, compliance, and data sovereignty mandates.

About Fifer (fifer.io)

Fifer is the enterprise GenAI platform you'll bring to federal agencies—a secure, government-ready solution that deploys entirely within agency cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to ensure sensitive data never leaves their security perimeter. In your pre-sales role, you'll demonstrate how Fifer's intelligent gateway provides agencies with centralized control over authentication, API management, security enforcement, prompt governance, and token-level budgeting across all GenAI activities, including third-party AI tools. You'll showcase Fifer's LLM-agnostic architecture, which allows agencies to leverage any AI model without vendor lock-in or data exposure. Your technical demonstrations will feature Fifer's built-in applications—Chat, Analyst, Expert (with patent-pending multi-agent RAG for knowledge management), Audit and Dev—illustrating how agencies can codify institutional expertise, enforce compliance standards like Section 508 and NIST RMF, and adopt AI with complete governance, visibility, and control that meets federal security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional pre-sales technical engagement by articulating Fifer's value proposition, architecture, and differentiated capabilities to federal prospects and customers
  • Design and deliver compelling demonstrations showcasing how Fifer addresses agency-specific use cases, security requirements, and mission objectives—including live technical walkthroughs and proof-of-concept implementations
  • Serve as a technical thought partner in scoping GenAI applications, recommending deployment architectures, and advising on integration patterns with existing agency systems and data sources
  • Develop technical documentation, implementation guides, reference architectures, and responses to common agency questions discovered throughout the sales cycle
  • Act as the primary technical resource for security, compliance, and Authority to Operate (ATO) discussions, articulating Fifer's security model, data sovereignty approach, and alignment with federal frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST, Zero Trust, etc.)
  • Champion customer needs internally by gathering and synthesizing agency feedback, identifying cross-customer themes, and collaborating with product and engineering teams to inform Fifer's roadmap
  • Partner closely with CVP's Go-to-Market, cybersecurity, and delivery teams to ensure seamless handoffs from sales to implementation

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of technical pre-sales or solutions engineering experience working with federal government customers, particularly Federal Civilian agencies and/or DoD organizations
  • Have established relationships and credibility with federal IT leaders, CIOs, CTOs, and technical decision-makers in complex procurement environments
  • Possess strong knowledge of federal IT security frameworks, compliance requirements (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53), ATO processes, and data sovereignty concerns
  • Have hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python or JavaScript, RESTful APIs, and cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Have built or deployed applications to the cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Excel at translating complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for both technical practitioners and executive audiences
  • Take ownership of problems from discovery through resolution, proactively filling knowledge gaps and driving customer success
  • Demonstrate humility, collaboration, and a team-first mindset—willing to do whatever it takes to help customers and colleagues succeed

Location: This role is based in the Washington, DC area. While we operate remotely, candidates should expect occasional travel to customer sites for demonstrations, implementations, pilots, and stakeholder meetings within the National Capital Region and other federal locations.

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance is required.

Preferred but not required: Active Public Trust, Secret, or higher clearance; existing clearances may unlock additional customer engagement opportunities.

Salary Band: $150,000 -170,000 (Depending on experience)
