Overview

The Microsoft O365 and Power Platform Configuration Lead designs, configures, and optimizes Microsoft 365 and Power Platform solutions to support clinical informatics operations and VA's Electronic Health Record Modernization. This role leads implementation of collaboration tools, automation solutions, business intelligence dashboards, and low-code applications enabling efficient workflows across 170+ VA Medical Centers.

Responsibilities

Power Platform Development

  • Design, develop, and deploy Power Apps (canvas and model-driven), Power Automate (cloud and desktop flows), Power BI dashboards/reports, and Power Virtual Agents
  • Create custom business applications supporting clinical informatics workflows and automated business processes
  • Build interactive dashboards and data visualizations for clinical analytics and performance monitoring
  • Integrate Power Platform solutions with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Dataverse, external data sources including VA Clinical Data Warehouse (CDW)
  • Develop data integration solutions connecting VA CDW, EHR systems, and collaboration tools with proper security and HIPAA compliance

Microsoft 365 Administration

  • Configure and optimize Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Lists
  • Design SharePoint sites, document libraries, information architecture supporting collaboration and knowledge management
  • Create Power Automate flows for document approval workflows, notifications, and data integration
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance policies are implemented across M365 environments
  • Establish governance frameworks, standards, and best practices for Power Platform development and M365 configuration

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members on Power Platform and M365 best practices
  • Collaborate with informatics analysts, clinical SMEs, and stakeholders to gather requirements and design solutions
  • Conduct training sessions and create documentation for end users on Power Platform applications and M365 tools
  • Participate in SAFe® Agile ceremonies supporting two-week iterations and quarterly Program Increments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field
  • Microsoft certifications strongly preferred:
    • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform App Maker Associate or Developer Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (Power BI)
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
  • Minimum 3 years as a leader in designing, implementing, and maintaining MS SharePoint and Power Platform products
  • Proven experience with Power BI, PowerAutomate, and Power Apps creating products, providing guidance, and ensuring scalable/sustainable solutions
  • Experience in SharePoint design incorporating visual professionalism and maximizing user experience
  • Healthcare or federal government experience preferred
  • Power Platform: Advanced proficiency in Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI (DAX, M Query), Power Virtual Agents, Dataverse
  • Microsoft 365: Deep knowledge of SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Microsoft Lists, Forms
  • Data & Integration: Experience with SQL, REST APIs, data gateways, connectors, PowerFX, JSON
  • Development: Understanding of PowerShell scripting (preferred)
  • Security & Governance: Knowledge of Power Platform governance, data loss prevention policies, M365 security and compliance features
