Overview

CVP is seeking Health Aides to provide essential support services for the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program at Sam Rayburn Memorial VAMC in Bonham, TX. You'll play a vital role in delivering therapeutic and supportive tasks as part of a rehabilitation treatment program for Veterans with mental health conditions.

 

Pay: $22.48/Hr

$5.09/Hr Health and Welfare Benefits (Can opt for cash in lieu of benefits)

Responsibilities

  • Perform therapeutic and supportive tasks in assisting physicians and other professional personnel in a rehabilitation treatment program for Veterans
  • Orient patients to the treatment program and facility procedures
  • Observe patients for symptoms, behaviors, actions, reactions, and any changes in health conditions, reporting changes to medical and clinical staff
  • Perform patient rounding every two hours to ensure safety and wellbeing
  • Assist in individual or group therapy sessions and behavior therapy sessions
  • Lead therapeutic and recreational activities for residents
  • Assist with patient intake and discharge processes
  • Monitor patients' behavior and whereabouts to maintain a safe environment
  • Escort patients throughout the facility as needed
  • Support structure, supervision, and therapeutic engagement throughout the recovery process
  • Contact medical staff in cases of fainting, convulsions, or illness
  • Follow universal precautions and infection control guidelines
  • Occasionally serve as receptionist at the Bonham Domiciliary front desk
  • Access orders using the computer system
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Rehabilitation Treatment Program
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely
  • Complete all mandatory training requirements

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Two years of study in an accredited college or university, junior college, or similar institution, which included or was supplemented by at least 12 semester hours in courses such as health sciences, nursing, behavioral science, social science, guidance, counseling, teaching, biological sciences, or related fields
  • Minimum one year experience in direct patient care performing therapeutic and supportive tasks in a rehabilitation treatment program setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to read and comprehend clinical documentation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently
  • Computer literacy and ability to learn VA electronic systems
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk moderate distances, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds

Work Schedule Options:

  • Sunday-Thursday: 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM
  • Tuesday-Saturday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Tuesday-Saturday: 3:30 PM - 12:00 PM
