Overview

CVP is seeking experienced Radiology Technologist to join our team providing comprehensive imaging services to our Nation's Veterans at the Northport VA Medical Center in Northport, NY. This is a full-time, on-site position specializing in general radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.

 

Pay: $55-60/hr (Depending on Experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform general radiographic examinations including chest, abdomen, extremities, and spine imaging
  • Operate general X-ray equipment, portable units, and fluoroscopy equipment
  • Prepare patients for radiographic procedures by assessing needs, providing education, and ensuring comfort
  • Position patients accurately to obtain optimal image quality while minimizing radiation exposure
  • Select appropriate technical factors and positioning for various examinations
  • Assist radiologists with fluoroscopic procedures and interventional studies
  • Evaluate image quality for diagnostic acceptability and repeat examinations as needed
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System)
  • Perform quality control measures on radiographic equipment
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and monitor radiation exposure
  • Transport and assist patients as needed, including wheelchair and stretcher transfers
  • Participate in emergency preparedness training and respond to medical emergencies as needed
  • Maintain professional conduct and demonstrate ICARE values (Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, Excellence)
  • Complete mandatory VA training requirements including cybersecurity, privacy, and clinical training
  • Work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and federal holidays

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance (US Citizenship Required)
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice Radiologic Technology in any U.S. state, territory, or District of Columbia
  • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography (R)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in general radiography
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
  • Knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and assist patients with mobility
  • Experience with portable and mobile radiographic equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology
  • Experience with fluoroscopy and interventional procedures
  • Knowledge of bone densitometry (DEXA)
  • Knowledge of VHA policies and procedures

Shift Requirements:

  • Day Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Evening Shift: 3:30 PM - Midnight
  • Night Shift: 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM
  • Rotating weekends and federal holidays required
  • On-call availability may be required
