Overview

CVP is seeking experienced MRI Technologists to join our team providing comprehensive imaging services to our Nation's Veterans at the Northport VA Medical Center in Northport, NY. This is a full-time, on-site position specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures.

 

Pay: $55-60/hr

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI imaging examinations according to established procedures and protocols
  • Operate MRI equipment and associated computer systems
  • Screen patients for MRI safety contraindications and ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Prepare patients for MRI procedures by assessing needs, providing education, and ensuring comfort throughout procedures
  • Position patients accurately using appropriate coils and positioning devices
  • Select appropriate imaging parameters and sequences for optimal diagnostic quality
  • Administer MRI contrast agents when indicated and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Evaluate image quality for diagnostic acceptability and repeat sequences as needed
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System)
  • Perform quality control measures on MRI equipment including daily safety checks
  • Ensure MRI safety protocols are followed including ferromagnetic screening
  • Participate in emergency preparedness training and respond to medical emergencies as needed
  • Maintain professional conduct and demonstrate ICARE values (Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, Excellence)
  • Complete mandatory VA training requirements including cybersecurity, privacy, and clinical training
  • Work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and federal holidays

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance (US Citizenship Required)
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice Radiologic Technology in any U.S. state, territory, or District of Columbia
  • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography (R)
  • Current ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in MRI imaging
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MRI safety protocols and contraindications
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and MRI physics
  • Experience with contrast administration and IV insertion
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and assist patients with mobility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology
  • Experience with advanced MRI techniques and sequences
  • Knowledge of cardiac MRI and MR angiography
  • Knowledge of VHA policies and procedures

 

Shift Requirements:

  • Day Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Evening Shift: 3:30 PM - Midnight
  • Night Shift: 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM
  • Rotating weekends and federal holidays required
  • On-call availability may be required
