Hospitalist

CVP is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Hospitalists to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with quality care at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center located at 1 Medical Center Dr, Clarksburg, WV 26301. This is a 6-month locum tenens position with the potential for a 6-month extension.

• Provide on-site Hospital Medicine physician services for inpatients at the Louis A. Johnson VAMC
• Admit and coordinate all aspects of care for hospitalized medical patients including history and physical examinations
• Determine appropriate placement within the hospital
• Evaluate and treat patients, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies such as laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and electrocardiographic examinations
• Administer appropriate medications within the scope of hospital medicine practice
• Discuss end-of-life preferences and advanced care planning with patients
• Consult with sub-specialists as needed
• Conduct timely and proactive discharge planning
• Coordinate care with patients' primary care physicians
• Ensure appropriate follow-up is arranged at discharge
• Provide perioperative care as needed
• Provide care to patients in critical/acute care settings in conformance with VA policies
• Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of inpatients with emergent conditions
• Run code teams and rapid response teams when necessary
• Perform procedures as needed and privileged, including but not limited to: abscess incision and drainage, thoracentesis, nasogastric tube insertion, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, and ACLS procedures
• Review all admissions to inpatient hospital care recommended by Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner providers
• Provide comprehensive person-to-person hand-off/hand-over from the admitting Provider to a responsible member of the admitting team
• Participate in quality improvement activities and meetings as required
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Document patient care in the VA electronic health record (CPRS) in a timely manner
• Report any patient safety incidents within 24 hours following VA procedures

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
• National Provider Identifier (NPI) required
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Current DEA certification
• Ability to obtain VA credentialing and privileging prior to start date
• Minimum of one (1) year of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years
• Experience in hospital medicine preferred; VA experience a plus
• Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently
• Proficient in technical skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Work Schedule:

• Full-time position (80 hours per week)
• 12-hour shift schedule: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm or 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, Wednesday through Tuesday (exact schedule to be determined)
• 6-month assignment (December 15, 2025 to June 14, 2026)
