Overview

CVP is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Primary Care Physicians to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with medical care at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center (Milwaukee VAMC) and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a full team member of the interdisciplinary team serving civilian and military patients at VA facilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services including history taking, physical examinations, diagnoses, and initiation of medical treatment plans

  • Evaluate and treat approximately 10 patients per 8-hour shift with varied medical complexities including cardiovascular, GI, pulmonary, orthopedic, and surgical conditions

  • Initiate and facilitate treatment and transfer in emergency situations

  • Conduct follow-up office visits for existing medical problems with appropriate diagnostic tests and medication adjustments

     

  • Refer patients as needed to appropriate VA specialists/services or other appropriate health care services

  • Document assessments and plan of care for each patient in accordance with VA policies and procedures

  • Act as a consultant in clinical practice

  • Collaborate with other disciplines including Physicians, CRNAs, Advanced Practice Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure continuity of patient care

  • Complete progress notes for each episode of care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) on the same day services are rendered

  • Complete electronic encounter forms containing diagnosis of treated conditions and evaluation and management codes

  • Process individual view alerts in CPRS within required timeframes

  • Accept patient lab results communicated via phone after hours

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements

  • Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved Schools:

    o Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)

    o Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association

    o For foreign medical graduates, certification with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Practice

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience within the past three (3) years

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), an organization recognized by the AHA, or Military Training Network (MTN)

  • Computer literacy and ability to work with electronic medical records

  • Ability to successfully undergo a government-sponsored background investigation(US Citizenship Required)
