Overview

CVP is seeking a team of Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrists to join us in providing our Nation's Veterans with psychiatric services at multiple VA facilities throughout the Atlanta VA Healthcare System. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Veterans while working in a collaborative healthcare environment. We have 5 full-time roles as well as one part-time position.

  • Pike VA Clinic: 1355 Terrell Mill Road, Marietta, GA 30067

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (excluding 30-minute lunch)

 

Duration: 6/15/25-6/14/30

 

This is a 1099 opportunity, rate range: $160-180/hr DOE

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric services for Veterans enrolled for care in the Atlanta VA Healthcare System Outpatient Clinics
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consultations, medication management, and individual psychotherapy
  • Prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications and provide general clinical management of patients
  • Request appropriate consultations with other medical disciplines as needed
  • Assess risk factors and develop preliminary disposition plans, involving the Veteran and, with consent, their family/significant others
  • Provide treatment for common diagnoses including anxiety disorders, PTSD, Major Depression, mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, other Serious Mental Illnesses, and mental disorders related to Traumatic Brain Injuries
  • Assess serious and complicated cases involving psychiatric illness, catastrophic medical conditions, dementia, and other high-risk diagnoses
  • Exercise clinical judgment in selecting or adapting standard clinical theories, techniques, and practices
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines on interdisciplinary treatment teams to provide comprehensive care
  • Establish professional working relationships with clinical service providers within the medical center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics
  • Provide telephone and curbside consultation as needed
  • Screen consults for appropriateness prior to scheduling
  • Provide direct clinical supervision of mid-level providers, psychiatric advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and other staff as appropriate
  • Provide telephone and telehealth assessments as needed
  • Participate in quality of care, peer review, and other performance improvement activities
  • See approximately 6 patients per day via phone, Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT), or VA Video Connect (VVC)
  • Process incoming consults by assigned team and subspecialty diagnoses
  • Process individual view alerts in CPRS within seven (7) days of creation
  • Complete all clinical notes within 48 hours of patient visits

Qualifications

  • Eligible to obtain a federal security clearance (US Citizenship required) 
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications or equivalency
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Experience with electronic health records systems
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate VA's ICARE values (Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence)

Desired Skills

  • Prior experience working with Veterans and/or in a VA healthcare setting
  • Experience with VA's Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS)
  • Experience with telehealth service delivery
