Overview

CVP is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the Veterans Health Administration at the Northern Colorado VA Outpatient Clinic in Loveland, CO. The Sterile Processing Technician will perform critical duties in the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) department, including receiving, disassembling, inspecting, assembling, packaging, disinfecting, sterilizing, and distributing reusable medical supplies, instruments, and equipment to support surgical and clinical operations. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) working Monday-Friday between 0700-1730.

 

Hourly Rate: $23.82-24.87.

 

Duration: 4/12/2025- 4/11/2030.

 

Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect contaminated instruments from operating rooms, dental clinics, endoscopy, nursing units, eye clinics, wound care, and podiatry.
  • Determine and execute correct decontamination and cleaning methods per Instructions for Use (IFU) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Assemble full range of instrument sets from simple 4-5 piece sets to complex 90-100 piece sets for various specialties.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment including Steam, V-Pro, Trophon, and Medivators units.
  • erform quality control testing including bacteriological monitoring.
  • Handle delicate and specialized equipment including flexible scopes, microsurgical instruments, and dental handpieces.
  • Maintain proper documentation in instrument tracking management system (Censitrac).
  • Follow all safety and infection control protocols.
  • Interact professionally with clinical staff regarding instrument availability and substitutions.
  • Participate in required training and continuing education.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments used in operating rooms and clinic settings.
  • Understanding of sterilization processes and cleaning equipment.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions and infection control practices.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic understanding of anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to obtain VA-sponsored background investigation clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous sterile processing experience in a hospital setting.
  • Experience with Censitrac or similar instrument tracking systems.
  • Prior VA experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to handle delicate instruments.
  • Visual acuity to inspect detailed instruments.
